John Arthur Pinckard

John Arthur Pinckard is a two time Tony Award winning Broadway producer and financier recently represented on Broadway by A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, winner of the Tony Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama League Award, and Drama Desk Awards for Best New Musical. His previous Broadway outing, Clybourne Park, won the Tony Award and Olivier Award for Best New Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

With David Carpenter he is a founding partner of Tilted Windmills Theatricals, a disruptive new production company focused on the intersection of technology with the performing and popular arts. Tilted Windmills is currently represented by PUFFS, the hit Potter inspired comedy now in its second year Off Broadway, and is currently developing The Magnificent Revengers, a forthcoming interactive play that uses technology to enable audiences to make key choices that alter the course of the play.

John’s history as producer and financier includes Green Day’s American Idiot, Tony Award winner Hedwig and the Angry Inch starring Neil Patrick Harris, the Tony Award winning revival of HAIR, the international hit Slava’s Snowshow, and the long running Off Broadway hit Silence! The Musical!, which he originated at the 2005 New York International Fringe Festival He has produced and financed productions with budget ranges of $3-4m (Clybourne Park) to $12-16m (American Idiot).

John worked for six years in the Investment Bank of JPMorganChase before winning a fellowship in Broadway producing from Columbia University and Harold Prince, the legendary producer & director whose six decade career shaped the face of Broadway with such landmark hits as Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, Cabaret,Evita, and The Phantom of the Opera. With the support of Mr. Prince, John resigned from JPMorganChase & Co. and opened his first producing office, which he ran independently prior to founding Tilted Windmills with Mr. Carpenter.

John’s notable collaborators include Tony winners Greg Kotis & Mark Hollman (Urinetown), Drama Desk winner Ed Sylvanus Iskandar, international music sensations the Scissor Sisters, and renowned author Armistead Maupin, among others.
